YouTube Music, A New Music Streaming Service, Will Launch Next Week

For the first time, all the ways music moves you can be found in one place.YouTube Music is a new music streaming service made for music: official songs, albums, thousands of playlists and artist radio.

YouTube Music is a streaming service which brings together a gigantic catalog of music albums, covers, remixes, live performances, music videos and more. It’s been described as an all-in-one type of deal in their official blog with both a mobile app and desktop programme planned and appears to be a direct competitor to Spotify and Apple Music.

Following in Spotify’s footsteps, it will be available both as a free ad-supported service and a paid-tier called YouTube Music Premium.

Starting on May 22nd, YouTube will officially launch its music streaming service that will be available for free and Premium version.

The free version of YouTube Music supports ads and will offer official songs, albums, playlists, artist-based radio and YouTube’s library of videos.

While YouTube Music Premium is the ad-free version of the music streamer that allows you to listen to tunes in the background, and download the tune. It will cost $9.99 a month and will be available via an app or through your desktop browser.

And if you are a YouTube Red (soon to be YouTube Premium) or Google Play Music subscriber, you get YouTube Music Premium at no extra charge. However, if you are not a member and plan to go for the bundle in the future, the whole premium streaming service will set you back $11.99.

The Music app will offer you location-based songs depending on your location, and you can also search for a specific song in vague terms.

It will be rolling out to U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South Korea* on Tuesday, and other countries in the coming weeks.

Here’s everything we know at the moment...
